It’s not clear whether true anonymity is possible. Since most of our activities leak information, it’s difficult to be truly anonymous. Something to consider when discussing anonymity is the effect reputation has on anonymity. A lot of the problems that arise from anonymity go away when we consider Reputation. When communities can contain anonymous peers, the only true way to put skin in the game is to bet your reputation. This is probably why Karma systems like those in Reddit are a good idea. Furthermore, it’s very interesting that assymetric encryption is the mathematical basis on which modern anonymity and trust systems have been built.
